National Sports University

The National Sports University situated in Imphal (Manipur), Manipur’s National Sports University was established in 2018. On March 16, 2018, Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for the University’s projected 325-acre campus in Imphal West. Sport has the ability to alter the course of history. Nelson Mandela famously stated that sport may provide hope where there was previously only despair. It communicates with young people in a language they understand.

The National Sports University will be the first of its kind, promoting sports education in sports sciences, sports technology, and sports management. It will also serve as the national training centre for a number of athletic disciplines, employing the finest worldwide techniques. In April 2017, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Universities of Canberra and Victoria.
