About Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
IIT Guwahati is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati established in India. It is located in the north-eastern state of Assam, and is ranked 7th in Engineering and 8th in Overall category in NIRF India Rankings 2021. The institute is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the government of India.
An act of parliament founded IIT Guwahati in 1994, and its academic programme began in 1995. The origins of IIT Guwahati may be traced back to the 1985 Assam Accord, which emphasises the general upgrading of educational facilities in Assam, notably the establishment of an IIT. The selection procedure was the same as for the other IITs, namely the Joint Entrance Examination.
Admission Process –
Admission to UG Courses at IIT Guwahati is done through JEE Advanced for Engineering and UCEED for Designing. Admission to PG courses is done using GATE scores and CEED for Designing, whereas admission to Ph.D. courses is done through Ph.D-NET test or Ph.D. entrance examination and/or interview.
