The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is a public technical and research university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is designated as an Institute of National Importance since it is one of the Indian Institutes of Technology. IIT Madras is a residential institute that sits on a 2.5-square-kilometer (0.97-square-mile) campus that was once part of the Guindy National Park. There are about 600 academic members, 10,000 students, and 1,250 administrative and support employees at the institute.

Admission Process –

On its official website, IIT Madras publishes an official timetable for admission to various programmes. Admission to all courses is done by an entrance test. The admission exam differs depending on the course. To get admitted to any of the courses, candidates must meet the qualifying standards provided by IIT Madras. Eligibility Criteria –

Program covers all topics thoroughly starting from the foundations. Anyone who has completed class 12 can apply.

For applicants with knowledge of the foundations and working professionals looking to up-skill. Anyone who has completed UG degree or at least two years of any UG degree can apply.

Admission is solely through Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE). The programme has a total of 58 seats; each stream will have 29 seats. Allocations of seats to individual Streams will be made based on the academic performance of students (CGPA) during the first three semesters, students’ preferences, and availability of seats under each discipline.

At least 55% aggregate marks or 5.5 out of 10, without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) in the qualifying degree for General/OBC/EWS category candidates. At least 50% aggregate marks or 5.0 out of 10, without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) in the qualifying degree for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
