Online Display Advertising

Online display advertising is the technique of promoting a product or service using visuals such as photos and videos on publisher website networks such as Google Display Network and Facebook, among others.

Display ads in the form of banners, pictures, and text ads are placed on relevant third-party websites. Display advertising is a broad term that includes any visual advertisement displayed on a website; however, it may be divided into three primary categories:

  1. Advertising on websites: The advertiser/marketer selects the website on which they want their display ads to appear in this form of display advertising.
  2. Contextual advertising: In this form of display advertising, networks display ads on appropriate websites, such as displaying an ad for dog food on a website dedicated to pet adoption.
  3. Remarketing: Remarketing display ads are shown to people who have previously visited your website or post-click landing page but have gone without completing any relevant conversion goal.
